Constitution "Old Ironsides". The barrel length is 9" and its largest diameter ring, at the breech, is 1.580" (a little less than 1 5/8"). It is precision turned from brass bar stock and is bored and reamed to .38 caliber. The carriage is constructed of oiled American black walnut. The length of the carriage, from the tip of the bumper to the back, is 5 3/4". The axles measure 3 7/8" from tip to tip. The overall length of the assembled cannon (barrel and carriage) is 9 3/16". All of the hardware is solid brass. The cannon assembly weighs 3.36 lbs. Though the seller will not accept any liability for an accident brought on by the firing of this piece, numbers of others have been fired using .38 caliber lead balls and black powder charges appropriate for the caliber.
