Description:
ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR COFFEE MILL GUN OR UNION REPEATING GUN BY WILSON AGAR .58 CAL. PERCUSSION CYLINDER CARTRIDGE. Essentially a self contained mini percussion barrel with in-inline percussion cap nipple at one end. Fed thru the coffee mill hopper as a cartridge. The Union Repeating Gun was a Civl War alterative to the gatlings but due to having a single barrel(overheating) and poor range(AMONG OTHER ISSUES) fell out of popularity with the military. President Lincoln test fired the gun in 1861 and subsequently that led to an order for 50 plus from Agar. Used locally during the Civil War at Harper's Ferry and here in our town of Middleburg, VA. Nice condition with good aged patina. Very few survive.
