Description:
A superior quality fine grade English London Stub Twist percussion silver mounted hammer double with a 34" barrel and left yube choke is IM and right tube is choke is also IM. Comes with a rosewood ram-tod with a silver plated tip. The English walnut stock has deep figural staghead carving and basket weave on the forend . The stock is in very good condition with silver or German silver inlays. The lockplates and hammers are silver plated with no name seen. The locks work well engough to fire with the left lock coming to a half cock and full cock and the right hammer coming to about full cock and locking but not as far back as the left hammer. This quality rarely seen in a 19th century double made in the 1840's yo 1860's . Obviously made for a wealthy gentleman. Top of the barrel has engraved: LONDON STUB TWIST and has chisel inlaid hunting scene in silver. LOP is about 14 1/2". Overall, an exceptional 19th century double hammer percussion very fine shotgun.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
