Description: #96318, Winchester Model 70 Pre-64 in 270 Winchester, Made in 1948, 24" barrel, The rear sight removed but with a blank in the dovetail, Early style machined integral front ramp, Redfield 1 piece scope base, Standard 3 position safety, Standard Model 70 hinged floorplate, Straight comb stock, Standard point pattern checkering, Sling eyes, 13 9/16" LOP over a 1" pad, 8 lbs., The internal inletting is solid as a rock, The original barrel blue is 92%, The receiver blue is 95%, The floorplate & trigger guard is 60%, The bolt knob is 95%, The original wood finish at 75% with scattered handling marks, The checkering is 90%, The bore is excellent. This is a very honest hunting Model 70. The Pachmayr recoil pad was made for Thurman Randle & Co. in Dallas, Texas, they were at 208 N. Akard St. Thurman Randle had a gun supply store there in the 1930's and 40's. He was the NRA president in 1952 and on the Board of Directors from 1944 to 1946.
