Description:
Another Mid-19th century 12ga. double black-powder muzzle-loader with 30" barrels and chokes of Left: CYL and the right of MOD. The lockplates are chisel engraved with no maker name and the barrel has no maker name either. Possibly made on Europe for export with didn't require a proof mark. Both hammer match and work well and the nipples are surprisongly cpmplete. The european French walnut stock has fine hand checcckering at the wrist ans the left side has wood graoin raising and a coul,e areas but is soild. Looks like the stock was made when the wood was still green and not gully dried as the demand for any type gun was constant during the Civil War. Overall a respectable example of a Mid-19th century fowler! When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
