With its cannon muzzle, the Model 1850 is a very attractive Prussian cavalry pistol. The overall length is approx. 15.5"". The 8.75"" octagon to round approx. 60 caliber smooth bore barrel has a good bore with light erosion. The barrel and lock are bight with areas of light staining, particularly on the lock. The barrel left flat is marked 1850 with a crown proof mark to the rear. The top flat has a crown over W and the right flat is dated 1851. The barrel has a blade front sight with the block rear sight being on the barrel tang. The lock is marked with a crown over POTSDAM over G.S. (probably G. Schilling). The lock features a spring loaded manual nipple protector and safety. The brass furniture are vary good. The trigger guard has unit markings of 1GLC over 1 over 111. The stock is very good with sharp edges, light wear, a small age crack at the rear of the lock, and crown over W and crown over S inspection stamps on the left flat. The action functions correctly with the exception that half cock can be released with a trigger pull. If you like percussion cavalry pistols or early German state pistols, this would be a good addition to your collection.
