This Spanish Model 1815 cavalry/naval flintlock pistol (Pistola Para Caballeria Modeleo 1815) is in fine condition. The overall length is approx. 15"". The approx. 9"" octagon to round 71 caliber barrel has a very good smooth bore with light erosion. The metal parts retain approx. 80% of their original blue finish. The barrel top flat has crown over R and P proof marks. The lock is marked DUI (or DVI) at the bottom center and is stamped ASVAL at the tail. The frizzen is grooved which is typical of Spanish pistols of this era. The brass furniture are fine with an even aged patina. The grip has a large U-shaped swivel. The stock is fine with sharp edges, no cracks or chips, a bruise on the bottom forward of the trigger guard, and light wear marks. The action functions correctly. This Spanish Model 1815 is fit for the finest Spanish or European flintlock military pistol collection.
