COLT CAVALRY MODEL 1873 U.S. CAVALRY REVOLVER W/KOPEC
& ARCHIVE LETTERS
Description:
Colt U.S. Cavalry SAA revolver, .45 caliber, 7.5” barrel, brown patina, exceptional wood grips with cartouches “D.F.C.” and “C.C.M” plus D.F.C. inspection stamps on barrel, frame and cylinder, S/N 61301; overall very good condition with traces of original military blue in protected areas, very good bore, crisp action, sharp markings and very good grips including cartouches with date “1880” over the C.C.M cartouche. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter confirming features and noting delivery to U.S. Government Inspector located at the Colt plant on Dec. 18, 1880 in a lot of 200 revolvers. Also a Kopec letter that opines that although no records exist to determine where this revolver may have served during the Indian Wars, other close serial numbers are tied to the 1st Reg’t, First Cavalry that engaged in action with the Apaches at Cedar Springs, A.T. and at South Pass of the Dragoon Mts., A.T.; Kopec also indicates the possibility exists that the subject revolver may have escaped the Ordnance Department’s recall of 1893 and had remained in its all-matching Configuration! Buyer pays $20.00 shipping to lower 48 states. I accept USPS Money Orders or Bank Cashier's Check. Will accept Personal Check, with shipping hold. 3% Credit Card Fee! Three day, non-firing, non-disassembly, inspection period. If returned, for any reason, full refund, less shipping. Layaway Available! One third down, balance on or before end of 90 days. Other reasonable options considered. ANTIQUE!
