EXCEPTIONAL LIKE NEW, Fine condition of the EXTREMELY RARE Original BALLESTER MOLINA CAMPEON TARGET PISTOL with ALL MATCHING NUMBERS made in .22 CAL. It is believed 100 were made. This is not a conversion, nor a rebuilt, and NOT import marked. This pistol is coming from my personal collection.
This pistol is well documented and described in Alex Gherovici's books; like a 1911, like the Llama and like the Star Bonifacio Echeverria (Star P & M) it features NO grip safety (solid backstarp)but a thumb safety, an integrated mainspring housing with horizontal serrations and lanyard loop, rear slide vertical serrations with gaps, pivoting trigger with a side mounted sear bar and disconnector.
HAFDASA (Stands for " Hispano Argentina Fabrica de Automoviles Sociedad Anonima”) started to manufacture the Ballester Molina in .22 Cal and was so successful that around 1947 a target model was developed in order to expand its sales to target shooters. The Target model was name “CAMPEON”(Champion) and was produced in 3 different versions. For the manufacture of the Campeon pistols, tight fitting frame/slides sets were selected from the production line and hand adjusted.
Manufacture of the Campeon pistols were very limited; it is believed 100 were made. It is not know how many made it to the US! This is the only example I have seen in 15 years of collecting Argentine items. Manufactured from 1947 to 1953 when HAFDASA went out of business.
This is a Rare Argentine variation of the Colt Service Model Ace. Using the floating chamber system invented by David Marshal (Carbine Williams), this Ballester Molina has a 5" bbl. Outward appearance of a 1911A1 Colt.
Condition: LIKE NEW, Fantastic Very fine pristine condition. After detailed disassembly, all numbered parts were found to be matching, including barrel, slide and frame. NOT IMPORT MARKED! Excellent appearing Original Factory rich dark Blue finish with very very few tiny scattered light handling scratches-marks-imperfections. Slide is clearly marked "Pistola Automatica Campeon Cal. 22", next line Patentes internationals “Ballester Molina’, next line Industria Argentina. Close copy of the Colt Ace even uses a magazine virtually indistinguishable from a Colt. Magazine appear to be in good working condition dropping freely. To the naked eye, Bore is like new, excellent, mirror bright with strong rifling appearing unfired or fired very little. Appears mechanically in fine working order. Please take a look at the pictures showing the floating chamber intact (not Broken), free (NOT lead up-fused) in excellent shape and the barrel having an integrated extractor. Appearing Original walnut stocks in excellent shape with sharp vertical striations with NO cracks, NO repairs, NO chips; but tiny few bruises, handling marks-scartches. Book picture as reference only.
