An untouched patina throughout including the cast iron pointer. Looks to be an early made Fiske or Washburne silhouette cow, also resembles a Richardson cow. Zinc sheet mold construction with about 75% of the original gilding. The horns are missing and long gone. There is also still original gilding on the mounting bar. Several seem splits are present. No restoration to this Cow have ever been done and no repairs of any kind. The cow itself, measures about 14 inches wide and 10 inches tall. The arrow pointer measures 30 1/4 inches. It would be hard to upgrade this Weathervane, especially in this size. A fine acquisition for the advanced American Folk Art collector. This weathervane came from a cattle farm here in the Valley of Northern Virginia. USPS Priority mail is 45.00 Price: $8,500.00 |
