This inclinometer was used on a U.S. Navy Ship in the period before and during World War 1. The back of this fine instrument is marked U.S. Navy with a inventory number. A.Lietz was a German immigrant who came over to the USA in the 1880's and was the highest quality maker of surveying and nautical instruments. This fine clinometer is fully functional and in excellent working condition. The 8 1/2 inch glass face has no cracks or damage of any kind. The large knob at 6 o'clock position locks the instrument in a stationary position. The smaller knob to the right is a dampener. The knob in the center of the dial is used to reset the tilt hands. The case is thick and heavy at 2 1/4 inches and made of brass and copper measuring 9 1/4 inches. All three attachment points remain and are in excellent condition also. The Lietz clinometer was known as the highest grade clinometer available for nautical use and the best of its genre. This would look great mounted in your boat, sailboat or beach house, wherever a nautical theme is present. USPS priority mail is 22.00 Price: $695.00 |
