1992 Remington Model 700 Classic in .220 Swift w/ Box & Paperwork
** FLAT MINT & Unfired BEAUTY **
Description: This is a FLAT MINT, unfired, new-in-the-box Remington 700 Classic in .220 Swift manufactured in 1992 and complete with the original box and factory paperwork. Remington introduced the limited-production Model 700 Classic in 1981, with a new caliber chambering introduced each year and made only for that 1 year before moving on to the next caliber. The 700 Classic featured most of the standard Model 700 BDL features including a high-polish gloss blue finish on the metal, a polished and machine-turned bolt body (electro-penciled with serial number), a factory drilled and tapped receiver, a 2-position tang-mounted safety, a checkered bolt knob, an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate, and an aluminum alloy triggerguard and floorplate. Factory iron rifle sights were offered on some of the Classic models, but most had no iron sights or provisions for them of any kind. The main difference between the Classic and BDL model was the stock, with the Classic featuring an oil-finished checkered American Walnut stock with a factory-installed recoil pad and sling swivel studs versus the gloss-finished stock with a black pistol grip cap and forend tip of the BDL model. These limited-edition 700 Classic rifles were finally discontinued in 2005, after 25 calibers were produced. Today these beautiful Remington rifles are sought-after by collectors and shooters alike due to their limited production combined with excellent build-quality and accuracy, with mint examples extremely hard to find. This particular example is as good as it gets, having been bought new by the original owner in 1992 and immediately put into storage, never once assembled, fired, or carried afield. Chambered in .220 Swift, one of the most sought-after calibers in these rifles, this rifle has EVERYTHING going for it. When we put the bolt into this rifle for photographs it was the first time it had been together since leaving the factory 29 years ago. This 100% original 700 Classic has a beautiful factory gloss-blue finish rating 99%+, with no visible finish wear, handling or storage marks, or marring of any kind. The factory-installed plug screws have never been removed for any reason. All of the factory stampings/markings are sharp and perfect on both the receiver and barrel. The bore is absolutely pristine and perfect, with a mirror-like appearance and razor sharp rifling. The machine-turned bolt body is bright with perfect factory swirls. The only deduction from the entire rifle can be found here, with just a a few small discolored spots from some removed dusty surface rust that formed during it's long-term 29 year storage. These could be easily removed with a little elbow grease and polish if the new owner so chooses. We left them alone as they are so minor they do not detract from the pristine overall look of the rifle. The factory-applied matching serial number on the underside of the bolt body is well-marked and complete, and the face of the bolt is pristine. The gloss-black anodized aluminum alloy triggerguard and floorplate are also pristine with a perfect factory finish, free of any scratches, wear, or marring. The original stock is just as perfect as the rest of the rifle, with sharp and clean checkering and a perfect uniform finish. The American Walnut used in this rifle's stock is a very attractive and uniform color, and it has some nice contrasting stripes and figure in it, particularly in the buttstock The wood is completely free from any scratches, dings, dents, or damage of any kind. All of the factory stock hardware is intact and in perfect shape, including the sling swivel studs and Remington-branded recoil pad. The factory gunsmith that stocked this rifle did a superb job mounting the recoil pad, with a perfect joint between the wood and rubber. As you can imagine, the internals and mechanics of this rifle are just as perfect as the rest of the gun. The action is slick and extremely precise, and the bolt turns into battery smoothly and is perfectly tight with no wiggle or grit. All of the controls on this Remington are in like-new, perfect working order. This rifle has not been shot since being test-fired at the factory, so the barrel as not been through any break-in procedure. As mentioned before, this .220 Swift Remington 700 Classic comes complete with it's original box with a fully-intact and clean end-label serial-numbered to the rifle, as well as with the original owner's manual and paperwork still sealed in the factory pouch (which was still attached to the triggerguard prior to taking pictures). This 1992 vintage limited-production 700 Classic has to be one of the finest examples in existence in ANY caliber, and could not be upgraded from in ANY respect. If you have been looking for a flat-mint 700 Classic for your collection here is your chance to get one of the best you will ever see!
