The dagger overall measures 13 5/8 inches with a 9 inch double edged blade. This style blade was designed to pierce armor. In the valuable and scarce reference book "European Daggers" it shows almost the exact dagger, blade style and shape, handle style and the way the brass is brought up onto the base of the blade. The center of the handle is made of horn, six sided. A beautiful turned finial finishes the handle off and the tang is masterfully peened to perfection. This dagger was made by a master of the knife maker's craft. The tri-foil brass guard is also unique to this region and time period. All the brass is worked and peened to fit, there is no solder used anywhere. A rare and early dagger of German or Dutch origin. USPS priority mail is 15.00 Price: $4,800.00 |
