Description:
The .40-60 Winchester is a centerfire rifle cartridge intended for 19th-century big-game hunting.  Nomenclature of the era indicated the .40-60 cartridge contained a 0.40-inch (10 mm) diameter bullet with 60 grains (3.9 g) of gunpowder.

The Winchester Model 1876, also known as the “Centennial Model” due to it appearing in time for America’s 100-year birthday celebration, became their “full-power” answer in the firearms market, only 63,872 total were made beginning in 1876 and continuing through1898. The main difference between the Model 1876 over preceding Winchester designs was its enlarged receiver specifically designed to handle the larger, full-power cartridges. The tube magazine could hold up to 15 rounds, depending on the cartridge the rifle was chambered in.

Comes with a 28 inch barrel.
Full length mag tube.
Wood shows a few handling mars and dings but no chips, splits or cracks. Old repair area on right lower rear of stock. Original finish remains.
Rifle style buttplate with cleaning kit cavity.
Mechanics are excellent with crisp and tight action and the correct and slight ly loose dust cover.
Bore has fair pitting.
Receiver retains about 60% original blue as does the barrel.
Mag tube has about half the blue remaining.
Striking marks on brass name pate under reciever. B scratched into brass plate.
Some pitting on upper and right of buttplate.

Rifle is fully functional and appers to be shootable.
