Description:
This is a pretty nice example of Carlos Gove's work. He worked in St. Joseph, Missouri 1852-54,  Council Bluffs, Iowa 1840-52 and 1854-62.  He built rifles and tomahawks mostly for the Rocky Mountain western trade. In 1862 he moved to Denver, Colorado were he worked his trade until his death in 1884. Piece of wood missing from stock above the hammer. Gove is one of the most famous makers of the old west. Barrel marked C. Gove Denver City. Double set triggers. Indian tacked and copper wire wrapped.
