CIVIL WAR AMES MFG. CO. U.S. MODEL 1850 FOOT OFFICER’S SWORD AND SCABBARD. 37” o/a with 31” blade decorated with floral and “US” martial motifs. Ricasso etched “AMES MFG. CO/CHICOPEE/MASS”. Brass hilt with original shark skin grip wrap and brass wire. Leather scabbard with brass mounts. Scabbard throat mount stamped on reverse “AMES MFG. CO./CHICOPEE/MASS”. All original and very good overall. Scabbard leather with minor crackling and loose with floppiness under center ring mount. Extra nice untouched attic condition with the blade etching and engraving in very fine condition.
