Description:
Worn to .75 cal, 41 1/2" barrel with an oxidized bore. The barrel of this musket is primarily a pewter-gunmetal patina with the balance of the parts a darker gray-brown showing some overall old oxidation staining and light pitting, the barrel bands with light dings and some more moderate old erosion at the breech. Conversion is by drum and nipple method, an original Wickham flint lockplate being utilized for the conversion. The lockplate markings with Wickham's name and "PHILA" remain mostly legible having softened somewhat from the years and the breech retains strong markings with "SNJ" New Jersey surcharge atop the barrel and the left side with "US / P / GF" proofs. The hammer is antique but appears to be of more commercial origins, with softened foliate scroll embellishments, the hammer nose and nipple show rather heavy damage. The smooth walnut stock remains in about very good condition showing a thin crack and some abrasions around the lockplate, noticeable flash erosion and the expected overall dings from the years. The stock flat edges are still quite good and there are remnants of markings on the left flat, adjacent to the triggerguard and along the toe line; these appear to be brigade markings and were deeply struck but are now difficult to decipher. The sling swivels have been removed long ago, an antique ramrod is present and the lock still functions crisply. A somewhat salty but respectable example with seen extensive service. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost.   We don’t have a web  site .I prefer money orders or a check.  Item ships when funds come in. I try to keep guns  affordable, which means I make less money than most dealers. You won’t get altitude sickness, or nose bleed, with my prices! I consistently have the best selection of  older guns If you attempt to buy,  you must still contact us for details . Best to email to buy. Sometimes a local person can stop buy and purchase before the gun is removed.  Sometimes not home to get calls. Some guns are required shipment to a gun dealer near you for a transfer to you when it arrives. Otherwise many older or black powder guns ship to your door. With the widest selection of older guns at great prices, We don’t have a store, and sell on the internet only.  I’m easy to get along with. Thank You
