Payment Types Accepted: Cashiers Check About Us: Private Collector Description: **NEW PRICE** This model was one of the earliest and longest running series dating from the origins of cartridge revolver production, but only about 1500 were made. Many variations were displayed during its 25-30 year run, but there are eight distinct issues recognized that segment significant production changes and improvements. This example, # "217", is the so-called "Buttonhead" third-issue, generally deemed the scarcest type. Features standard third issue quick-drop frame and rear sight, rear-entry round button cylinder pin, correct hammer with teardrop knurling, and early original action. The 3" barrel is stamped "217" with standard address "ALLEN & WHEELOCK WORCESTER, MS. U.S./ ALLEN'S PATS. SEPT.7, NOV. 9, 1858". The frame, cylinder, cylinder pin, and sideplate also marked "217". The revolver is nickel-finished with minor losses on edges and very minor dulling. All early issues were known for their elaborate 5-panel cylinder engraving, and this is a fine example. Mellow-aged ivory stocks with correct steel screw escutcheons. Mechanically fine and presents well. + Shipping Price: $1,325.00 Antique: Yes |
