CIVIL WAR U.S. MARINE CORPS NON COMMISSIONED OFFICER’S MODEL 1840 SWORD AND SCABBARD. 32” o/a with 24” blade relief etched in a floral cartouche “U.S.M.C.” and signed in an acid etched panel “HORSTMANN/PHILADELPHIA”. Brass hilt and brass mounted leather scabbard. Pommel engraved with old original to the period of issue rack number “46”. All original and complete. Very good overall with excellent metal patina and markings. Original leather with old use. Very scarce.
