Description:
Art can appear in many forms in this case it is a Mauser Broomhandle Carbine with a skelton stock and cartridge counter mag well.  The Mauser Broomhandle was released in 1896 and the lower and upper serial number dates this piece to 1897. Many variations were to follow especially after WWI when Mauser was competing for the commercial market. This is most likely one of those small, limited quantity contract pieces destined for the US. In The United States companies like Abercrombie Fitch, Stoeger, Lengerke & Detmold, etc. placed small orders in an attempt to successfully appeal to the expanding market in the US.   For example:  Skelton stocks were available and produced as an option for the buyer. You may reference this through the Von Lengerke & Detmold NY sales catalog from the early 1900’s. The condition of this unit is borderline mint. The cartridge counter is a precision feature that is absolutely stunning! The straw colors and fire bluing are breathtaking. The bore is .30 cal. and aged with well-defined rifling. It is a bit dirty from being fired and could use a good cleaning. The wood is an outstanding selection of English Walnut. This is perhaps a one-of-a-kind investment opportunity for the serious collector of Mauser Broomhandles.  You will most likely never see another one like it. In order to complete the transaction, we will need a copy of your FFL or C&R for shipping purposes. For payment I will accept personal checks, money orders, certified check or cashiers’ check, and all major credit cards.  Credit cards are acceptable with a 4% up-charge for processing. Personal checks require 8 business days to clear the bank, all other forms of payment receive same day as received shipment. You are responsible for any and local laws.
