Description:
REVOLUTIONARY WAR ERA BRITISH HORSEMAN’S SABER BY WOOLLEY & DEAKIN CIRCA LATE 1700’S. 34” o/a with 29” un-fullered blade stamped on the left flat forward of the guard “WOOLLEY/& DEAKIN”. Brass guard and fluted walnut grip. Other Woolley & Deakin swords have been observed with this form of hilt and identical fluted grip and may be a pattern of Mounted Militia saber intended for use by British forces in America during the latter part of the Revolution. The un-fullered blade suggests earlier production circa early 1780’s than a sword with a fullered blade. All original and in very good condition.
