SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1855 SOCKET BAYONET WITH SCABBARD AND FROG. All original and in fine condition. 18” blade stamped “US” at the base. Crisp grey-brown patina on socket with blade very fine medium grey with original tarnished brush polish. Mexican War era U.S. scabbard and white finished leather frog (see Reilly, Fig. S42). As found in southern Virginia. Really nice and probable Confederate used.
