PRESENTATION U.S. MODEL 1860 STAFF & FIELD OFFICER’S SWORD DATED 1884 AND SCABBARD. 38” o/a with 30” etched, engraved and gilded blade signed with retailer’s name “J.H. MCKENNEY & CO./N.Y.” Blade etched and gilded in a floral border panel “PRESENTED TO 2ND LIEUT.W. B. SMITH BY CO. E. 22D REGT. N.G.N.Y./CHRISTMAS 1884”. Blade retains all the original polish and gilding. Very ornate gilded brass hilt and scabbard mounts with nearly all the gilding remaining. Floral relief chiseled grip with gilded braided wire wrap. Nickel plated steel scabbard with plating flaked largely on the back side. With original gold portapee. Highest quality workmanship and excellent condition.
