ORIGINAL FRENCH & INDIAN WAR LARGE POWDER HORN INSCRIBED MOSES THAYER OF MENDON 1758-PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH ANCESTOR. Carved in old 18th century lettering “MOSES THAYER OF MENDON1758”. Large 16” battery horn with carved tapered octagon spout and the original wood base plug and lanyard staple. Fine original patina and absolutely genuine carved inscription. Moses Thayer of Mendon, Massachusetts was a direct ancestor of George W. Bush thru his mother, former First Lady Barbara Bush. Moses Thayer was born in 1710 and is buried in the Old Cemetery in Mendon.
