While being quite dry, the action is a tight and smooth. Serial numbered in the 322XXX range (early 1890). The exterior of this rifle has a smooth deep chocolate brown patina with some thin minor roughness similar to a feeling a piece of fine granule emory cloth. It does have some very light rust and grime build-up and very minor light pitting in a few areas of the medium-heavy octagon barrel. Otherwise, the overall metal is a decent crisp-edged example and devoid of any serious damage or blemishes. The buttstock is above average with no serious chips or slivers; the forearm does have chipping where the forecap fits the wood. Standard semi-buckhorn rear sight Winchester “pinched blade” front, standard trigger, and original dust cover. Nothing rare or wonderful here, but this is just a decent original 130 year old Winnie in slightly better-than-average condition. About VG as described. $2125 Price: $2125 Antique: Yes |
