Barrel tang with rear sight and bead front sight on barrel. New England style bag shaped walnut grip. Exposed trigger and under-hammer with tip of ear broken and missing. Metal with old brown patina. Grip with the original worn finish. Working order and dark bore with rifling still visible. We have no record of this maker who may be a German making guns in this New England style. A half stock percussion sporting rifle of American form with German style engraving similarly signed is known. Later period (1880’s-1890’s) breech loading hammer shotguns and a System-Aydt Schuetzen rifle are also known but may be by a gun maker family successor. Price: $650 Antique: Yes |
