CIVIL WAR AMES U.S. MODEL 1860 NAVAL CUTLASS DATED 1862 WITH RARE SCABBARD. 32” o/a with 26” blade stamped “AMES MFG. CO/CHICOPEE” and on the obverse inspected “U.S.N./D.R./1862”. Superior all original condition with excellent blade and all the leather grip wrap. Inner guard unit stamped “22M/494”. With U.S. Naval Officer’s Cutlass scabbard with brass drag mount and brass frog stud with brass mounting band characteristic of that very scarce variation. Probable issue to Marine Officer without the “USN” cut out in the guard. With walnut display board.
