GUSTAVE YOUNG ENGRAVED SMITH & WESSON NO. 1 SECOND ISSUE .22 CALIBER POCKET REVOLVER CIRCA 1865. All original and matching. 7 shot with 3 1/8th barrel having the “SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD, MASS.” Address. Fancy tight scroll engraving typical of Young’s work. An almost identical engraved No. 1 Third Issue is pictured in Herb House’s chapter on Young in his book COLT FACTORY ENGRAVERS, page 138. Engraved cylinder with twisting bands and punch dot scrolls also a Young characteristic. Factory pearl grips. Excellent with most of the original silver on the frame and the grips are in perfect condition. Perfect working order. Very rare.
