WW1 BRITISH ORDNANCE INSPECTED COLT NEW SERVICE DOUBLE ACTION .455 ELEY CAL. REVOLVER CIRCA 1915 W/FACTORY LETTER. 5 ½” barrel stamped at left breech “NEW SERVICE 455 ELEY” with Ordnance crossed flags proof on left side of frame forward of the cylinder and “BROAD ARROW/CROWN/V” Board of Ordnance acceptance proofed on the frame on the right behind the cylinder. Rare and desirable original unaltered British Army issue in the early part of WW1. Lanyard ring British replacement. Factory letter states it was shipped June 8, 1915 in a 400 gun shipment to British Ordnance Contractor London Armoury Co., 31 Bury Street, St. James, S.W. 1, London, England. Retains much original blue overall with moderate wear one would expect from a WW1 issue Colt. Excellent original hard rubber grips. Tight working order and excellent bore.
