RARE SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1877 TRAPDOOR .45-70 CALIBER CADET RIFLE. 29 ½” barrel. Short comb, long wrist stock. Only 1050 made and one of the scarcest Trap Door rifles. Serial number in the 97xxx range. 1873 dated lock plate and breech block. Buffington sight and serrated trigger arsenal updated in the 1880’s when many of these were re-issued for cadet use to various Colleges around the country. Excellent overall with much original blue and the original stock finish with visible cartouche. Working order and excellent bore.
