INDIAN WARS SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1879 TRAPDOOR .45-70 CAL. RIFLE. Serial numbered in the 287,xxx range and all matching and original late Model 1879 with correct “SWP/1884” cartouche. Has transition 1884 cleaning rod and the 1884 serrated trigger also correct for this range. One of the very last Model 1879’s made. Fine overall with considerable original blue mixed with plum patina. Stock with the original finish. Old metal collection tag on heal of butt. Has some old storage dirt and patina needs cleaning. Excellent markings. Has the original Model 1879 Indian Wars rear sight that would shortly be replaced by the Windage adjustable Buffington of the Model 1884. Original sling swivels and stacking swivel and original ramrod. Working order and very good plus bore with good rifling that will clean even better.. Nice all original example.
