The I-Fluting increases surface area, reduces weight and adds rigidity to the barrel more than any other fluting design offered. The IF-5 comes standard with a Forward Blow Compensator to give it that added touch - both in terms of looks and performance. It has always been Volquartsen's goal to achieve bolt action accuracy from a semi-auto and this begins with the barrel. The IF-5's stainless steel barrel features match bore and chamber tolerances.
