In our opinion the Mounties are the most attractive of all of the many iterations of Marlins wonderful little 22 leverguns. This 1960 gun is unmolested and nearly perfect except as described below. All metal and wood are nearly perefect. The rear site (easily replaced) has a blank in its place and a quality Lyman Receiver site has been installed instead and is FAR better than the open sights. The Marlin signature bulleey has fallen out (sold by numrich and require a little hand fitting) and the butt plate which is undamged is loose but NOT poorly fitting. It was the custom in the 60's to dress up many rifles with a white spacer...the spacer has been removed. One can be made from a clorox bottle or simply drill the screw holes a bit deeper so that the screws will tighten the butt plate to the butt stock.The take down screw is a bit rough, easily cleaned up with a file and a touch of cold blue
This is an incredibly nice little 22 Mountie and getting harder and harder to find esp in this condtion (WE HAVE 3 IDENTICAL...BUY THE ALL THREE (the 2d gun was issued by Sears ...JC Higgins as indicated by the factory side mount drilled and tapped on the side of the barrel) and also has a quality lyman receiver site) The 3 one just in may be seen in the pic with all 3 guns and is the one without the lyman receiver sight. The listing is only for the one gun below but you may buy all three...the other two will be listed here on Gunsinternational shortly. The Mountie witout the Lyman appears to have had the receiver cerakoted for some reason....the blue on barrel and mag tube are as new and the stock is in 90% cond or perhaps a bit better
