Description:
Winchester Model 12, 28 Gauge in very good to near fine original condition. This gun has been single family owned since bought used in 1967. The finishes and rib are 100% Winchester and in great condition overall with only light field use markings, there is a small amount of blue loss where the slide was run through it's cycle at the end of the shell tube, there are some handling marks on the buttstock and some checking in the wood grain.
The action is original blue with only the slightest edge loss, the matte section on top is perfect, the jewelling on the breech bolt has some loss of jewelling commiserate with normal use, action is clean inside and free of any rust.
The barrel is 26" with a full length factory vent rib, the roll mark on the left side of the barrel is clear with sharp edges and the blue is strong original blue, 2 3/4" chamber, bore is mirror and measures .548 with a skeet choke and marked as such.
The stocks are a pistol grip/ pigeon fore end with pigeon grade chequering in very good to near perfect condition. The butt stock has some hazing in the original finish and there are some checking marks along the grain. The contrast of grain in the stock is really nice and runs evenly through both sides of the stock, the fore end wood shows fancy burl, especially proniounced on the bottom of the fore end, 13 1/2" length of pull to a proper Winchester plastic plate, phillips screws as factory installed for the 1955 year.
