Inner base stamped “US/JB”. See Reilly, “AMERICAN SOCKET BAYONETS AND SCABBARDS”, page 44, figure B58. Socket stamped “CS/64” for the Confederate States Armory in Richmond and the date for 1864 and using the same letter and numeral stamps as seen on 1864 dated C.S. Richmond lock plates. Paul Davies discusses these bayonets in his book “C.S. RICHMOND ARMORY” page 197 for those that were “assembled” in 1864. Absolutely original including the stamp and very good condition.
