Description:
RARE CIVIL WAR ERA N.P. AMES U.S. 1840 GENERAL OFFICER’S SWORD AND SCABBARD CIRCA 1862-3. 39” overall with 32” blade acid etched blade with floral and martial motifs as well as “AMES MFG. CO./CHICOPEE/MASS” and stamped beneath with U.S. Sub-Inspector Archibald H. Ceiley’s “AHC” Ordnance acceptance stamp. Ceiley inspected at Ames from 1862-1863 (See Hickox Appendix III, pg. 59). Finest quality engraving on scabbard and hilt. Scabbard with maker name and address. Correct double ring upper sword attachment mount without the frog stud seen on the Pre-Civil War Staff Officer’s Model 1840 sword. Excellent unpolished coppery brass and beautiful original polish on blade. Only a small number of these swords exist and it is certainly one of the scarcest and most desirable of all Civil War swords.

Price: $9,500.00
