Description:
A rare Arab, hand forged iron, camel or prick spur with engraved decoration. This is one of the earliest spur styles used. It originated in the Middle Eastern, Ottoman, Arab, North African Empires. It was devised as a way to aid in directing an animal other than by rein, so hands could remain free during battle. It dates from the late 18th to 19th Century. It has a “U” shaped heelband, a molded neck and a characteristically long spike.
