"English Adams Patent .45 Caliber 5-Shot Revolver. This is a Beaumont Adams. Topstrap marked John Williams Bideford. Bore has good rifling and scattered corrosion in the grooves. Grips are very good plus with excellent checkering and no chips or cracks. Gun has approximately 70% blue. Gun has a sliding safety on right hand of frame. Action works and indexes perfectly. Fine big bore Percussion English Revolver. These were sold commercially and some were sold by the L.A.C. “London Armory Company" During the Civil War to the Confederacy. The barrel bears the L.A.C mark on the left side angular-flat. London Armory Company manufactured these Beaumont Adams Revolvers and in 1863 General Colin McRae ordered 10,000 revolvers. In their book The English Connection by Russ Pritchard and C.A. Huey they note and picture several Confederate documented Beaumont Adams Revolvers. The book, The English Connection by Pritchard and Huey is an insightfull look at the role of English made guns, canons, molds, and many other aspects of their relationship with the Confederacy.
