Description:
EARLY AMERICAN U.S. INFANTRY OFFICER’S FIVE BALL EAGLE POMMEL SWORD AND SCABBARD CIRCA 1805. 36” o/a with 31” straight blade acid etched and engraved with floral and martial motifs including a fine very early style “American Eagle/Liberty Banner” beneath a full “Stand of Arms” motif. Brass “FIVE BALL” hilt and brass scabbard. Bone grip with fluted carving. Early and scarce “Eagle” pommel with wide open empty beak without the filler section. Very good overall with small section of guard above the balls missing but an easy restoration project. Otherwise in fine plus attic untouched condition with the brass unpolished and the bone grip extra fine. All original.
