Description:
Johnson M-1941 rifles were manufactured by the Cranston Arms Co. in Cranston R.I.  Approximately 20,000 were made, chambered in .30-06, under Dutch contract and Approx. 1,000 were made in 7mm under Chilian contract. Of this total only 750 were procured by the USMC. This rifle advertised is not a USMC rifle, it is one of the .30-06 rifles. Certainly, a rare and collectable rifle.
This rifle is in excellent condition, fully functional with a good bore. The bore has strong rifling but roughness in the grooves, as you would expect with the corrosive ammo of the time.
Located on the right rear of the receiver is the Cranston Arms Logo, surrounded by a triangle. The Dutch Star acceptance mark can be seen. The Dutch Star indicates a contract that should prevent any U.S. Acceptance marks, if present...they are bogus.
The part numbers on the various rifle parts (Correctly) do not match. This makes German military arms collectors cringe, but that is the way Cranston did it. Since the parts were meant to be interchangeable, why bother?
The barrel is marked “.30-06” and “41” as shown in the pictures. The rifle is in excellent original finish with very little wear. The serial number has been stamped after finish, clearly confirming originality of finish. The stock is in beautiful condition with only one ding above the left pistol grip. It has not been sanded or varnished; the wood grain can still be felt. The forearm is in matching condition, they have together for 80 years. It has been well cared for in one collection for the past 40 – 50 years.  It was test fired when first acquired but quiet ever since.
Note that it has no recoil pad, it has not been sanded & varnished, and it has no U.S. Ordnance marks applied. It remains the way Cranston built it with minimal natural storage wear found in a well-cared for collectable.
This is a rare opportunity to add a M-1941 Johnson rifle for your collection, they have proven to be a great investment and will continue to be so. Included in the sale is the correct original bayonet and scabbard.
Serial Number: B3601, .30-06 Cal. with a 22” barrel. FFL or C&R Required
