Description:
This $1.000 Confederate States bond was issued in Richmond, Virginia on March 1, 1984, as authorized by the Act of 17 February, 1864. It was lithographed by Evans & Cogswell of Richmond, Virgina. It bears the Great Seal of the Confederate States of America, and is signed by E. Apperson, the Register of the Treasury, with bond and each of the individual coupons signed by Robert Tyler, as Recorder. A total of 10,700 of these particular bonds were issued, of which this one bears the consistent serial number on both bond and payment coupons of “2450”. None of the coupons have been detached and the bond is as complete and intact as the day it was printed in Richmond. This bond, along with a number of other unissued bonds in this series, had been stored by Confederate overseas agents in a London Bank vault. They apparently abandoned their charges at the end of the war. The bonds were forgotten for over a century, but were then discovered intact by the Bank in the 1980’s. In February, 1987, they were sold at a Sotheby’s in London to the Paramount International Coin Company. That company in turn sold the bonds it had purchased to private collectors, among which this specimen can be counted. This bond is listed in Grover Criswell’s reference book, Confederate and Southern States Bonds, as bond 144B, and in Douglas B. Ball’s Comprehensive Catalog and History of Confederate Bonds, as bond 325. This example has been mounted inside an attractive scalloped wood frame with acid free matting. On the reverse side of the frame is a certificate of authenticity. Price of $600 includes boxing and UPS shipping to the purchaser at an address within the continental USA.

I only accept payment by Zelle, money order or cleared check. I only ship to recipients within the Continental United States.
