Description:
This is one of the most widely used rifles in history. The Winchester 94 can be considered “The Deer Hunting rifle”, as it, along with the .30-30 cartridge, has arguably been used to take more deer than any other rifle/cartridge combination in history. Originally produced as the first commercial smokeless powder rifle, the Model 1894 (often shortened to ’94 or 94) and the .30-30 Winchester round set the benchmark for deer hunting rifle and cartridges everywhere. Indeed, the .30-30 Winchester is considered the starting round in the category of rifle cartridges suitable for deer hunting. This rifle is a post-64 commemorative model. It commemorates the life of Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States and an important figure in U.S. Military History. The Teddy Roosevelt Commemorative uses a classic octagonal barrel rather than the round barrel found commonly on newer 94s. The features the phrases “26th President” and “1901 – 1909” engraved on the left side of the receiver, while the name “Theodore Roosevelt” is engraved on the upper tang. The magazine should hold 6 rounds. This rifle is pre-owned but is in excellent condition, albeit with a few minor spots of wear. The most noticeable example is a hairline scratch on the left side of the magazine tube. There is a very small nick in the stock on the right-hand side. Finally, there are two spots of micro pitting on the left side of the front sight. These are easy to miss. The bore is in excellent condition – there is some no rust or pitting. The hammer exhibits some slight wear to the plating, but not much. The action has most likely been operated only a handful of times, including the occasion here where it was necessary in order to take a photograph of the bore. This rifle comes with its original box and would make a fantastic addition to any Winchester collection.
