Description:
This was the best revolver never issued to the Federal troops during the Civil War. The order for 5,000 was placed during the war and most were delivered during the war but never issued. The war ended and the contact was fully completed just after the end of hostilities. This was the revolver that shooters preferred in competition after the war in black powder shoots. Built on the same design as the Remington and Starr with the solid top strap which helped with both being accurate and strength. Made in Utica New York in 1864.
This revolver is 6 shot, .44 caliber with a 7-1/2” barrel. The revolver has about 50% of blue remaining with the rest being a blue/black patina. All numbers match including the grips with a cartouch on the left one, B inspector stamps on different parts. Serial number is 3923 and was made in 1864. The bore is in very good condition with sharp rifling still very apparent. The revolver locks up tight and could be shooter.
At 76 I have to start thinning my collection and passing them on to those that appreciate what I have collected over the years. I also know I have more latitude in selling an antique but even those I'll rather ship to an FFL, I hope you understand.
