SCARCE U.S. MODEL 1816 FLINTLOCK MUSKET SOCKET BAYONET MFG. BY SPRINGFIELD MANUFACTURING CO. CIRCA 1819. 19” o/a. Base of blade stamped “US/SM” and is one of the 2214 bayonets manufactured for Springfield Armory in 1818-19 on contract by Springfield Manufacturing Co. Fine overall with original plum brown finish mixed with patina. Scarce contract and great for an 1818 or 1819 dated musket.
