Description:
A-Square custom .425 Express. Ordered from A-Square in the 1980s (per notes from the original owner but unmarked) and based on a Remington Model 30 Express action, serial 20454 has a 24-inch tapering heavy sporter barrel (muzzle diameter .660-inch) wearing a banded and hooded front sight topped by a brass-beaded blade, banded sling swivel stud, detachable side mount with 1-inch rings and a Lyman aperture rear sight. The sight/mount configuration permits use of both sighting systems concurrently and a second barrel lug was added for additional strength. The original trigger has been replaced with a Timney. Magazine capacity is four rounds feeding from the follower. Stocked from a superb laminated claro walnut blank to substantial profile, appointments include a rosewood forend tip, wrap checkering, scalloped cheek rest, steel grip cap, inletted Howell-type sling swivel stud and a Pachmayr recoil pad. The stock is glassed at the action and lug. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 9.8 pounds and length-of-pull is 13.5 inches. CONDITION: The bore is pristine. Feeding and ejection are positive. Trigger pull is sharp. Metal finish is approximately 99 percent. Wood is approximately 98 percent with trace handling impressions. AMMUNITION: Two boxes (40 rounds) of A-Square 400-grain ammo is included (20 rounds Monolithic Solids and 20 rounds Dead-Tough softs). Stated muzzle velocity is 2400 FPS. The price is firm and layaway is available. Trades for fine sporting rifles (particularly customs, rimfires and dangerous game calibers) and handguns will be respectfully considered. $7,500 plus shipping.
