Description:
Kurz Mauser 8x51mm. A lively little sporter, serial 4325 (appears 3x: underside of barrel, underside of action and inside the barrel channel) wears a Krupp 20-inch octagon-to-round tapered barrel (.575-inch muzzle diameter) with an integral matted tapering rib (.315-inch at the muzzle). The rib is topped with a beaded blade front sight and a dovetailed rear sight with two hand-matted leafs (one fixed and one folder), each dressed with a gold sighting line. The action, bottom metal, grip cap and screws are appointed with light bordering and scroll engraving. Stock accents include a Schnabel forearm, checkered grip with partial Mullered border, scalloped pancake cheek rest with shadow line, checkered horn butt plate and a grip cap with raised initial plate (blank). The rifle is provisioned for sling hooks. ACTION: Notable action features include a straight bolt handle, “hook” roll over safety (180 degrees, three positions), checkered bolt release and single stage trigger). MOUNTS: The included 30mm claw mounts are something of a conundrum and could only have been created by someone with intelligence approximating that of a Biden cabinet appointee. The attach/detach operation is proper, yet the the safety lever contacts the scope tube as it moves into the center (vertical) position. Also, an ocular housing diameter of approximately 1.4 inches or less is required in order not to make contact with the bolt handle during its operation. MARKINGS: “H. Halverscheid” is engraved on barrel right. Barrel left is marked “Hagen.” over the chamber and a silver elongated oval appears along side. The action is marked “49905” on the underside of the receiver with a partial number appearing 3x on the bolt and again on the magazine box. “7.7” appears on the underside as well (bore diameter measures approximately .315-inch). Receiver left is marked “2gGBP St. m. G.” and “Waffenfabrik Mauser-Oberndorf A/N”. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 6.6 pounds inclusive of rings. Length-of-pull is 13.3 inches. CONDITION: The bore is bright and shiny without signs of roughness. Metal finish is approximately 65 percent, with general thinning and browning. Mechanics operate properly. Wood is approximately 80 percent, with a trace of a stabilized hairline at the tang. The price is firm and layaway is available. Trades for fine sporting rifles (particularly customs, rimfires and dangerous game calibers) and handguns will be respectfully considered. $5,000 plus shipping.
