Description:
W&C Scott & Son Monte Carlo B 20 gauge. Made circa 1924, serial 103045 features 26-inch barrels choked C/IC, single ivory bead, matte rib, 2.5-inch chambers, ejectors, automatic safety and a leather-wrapped recoil pad. ENGRAVING: Each lock presents a single flying bird against a natural background, this surrounded by delicate scroll. The pattern continues over the entirety of the action, touches the barrels and reappears on the forend latch and along the length of the tang. Amazingly, the company name is incorrectly engraved as “W & Scott & Son” on the right lock. The initial plate on the toe line is engraved “MBC”. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 5.8 pounds. Length-of-pull is 14.0 inches, drops are 1.5 and 2.5 inches, and cast off is approximately .25-inch. CONDITION: Bores are strong and bright. Barrels remain properly on face, ejectors are snappy and the opening lever rests at center. Barrel blue is approximately 85 percent, action colors are approximately 25 percent and wood is approximately 80 percent overall, with modest softening of checkering, added leather pad and a scattering of field impressions. Engraving and markings are sharp. CASE: An unmarked and unlabeled vintage case with restored interior by Marvin Huey is included. The outside leather is in fair condition, with a spliced portion where once a name appeared. The inside is new. The price is firm and layaway is available. Trades for fine sporting rifles (particularly customs, rimfires and dangerous game calibers) and handguns will be respectfully considered. $8,500 plus shipping.
