Description:
We have a custom bull barrel (1.1 muzzle by 27" marked H. Lovell on a WW1 Danzig Mauser 98 military action rifle. Stock is nicely done walnut with checkpiece and the steel buttplate looks like a winchester style. Of course, this would be Hervey Lovell (not Harvey) 1886-1967. In addition to the 22-3000 he was instrumental in the 22 varminteer developement, using the 250/3000 savage as a base cartridge, now standardized by remington as the 22/250 rem. and this rifle is so chambered
Rifle weighs at about 15# as shown with the R.A. Litshert model C 12x with aluminum screw in lens covers and posi mounts. Rifle shoots fine, has a rather slow twist, shoots 55gr ptdsp bullets fine but doesn't like the vmax bt and other long bullets- measures about 1 - 14 twist. Chamber was recut by accuracy unlimited- medford, wi and a timney trigger added- no other modifications were done. Bore is good- no idea of round count.
It is a fun gun to shoot as is- shoots better than most can hold it, even at 90 years of age or so. Need FFL or C&R and this is heavy so $60 shipping to lower 48.
