Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are extremely proud to offer this very hard to find deluxe version of Colt's Lightning rifle. She is fitted with a highly figured and checkered walnut pistol grip stock and pump handle. The icing on the cake is the special ordered 30 inch octagonal barrel, 4 inches longer than standard. I have never seen this combination before, and I doubt we will ever see it, again. About 90 thousand of these guns were made, but deluxe versions are nigh as scarce as hen's teeth. Made in the year of our Lord 1888, she is in very good condition for being 135 years old. The Colt blue has long ago drifted to a pleasing patina, but there is very little rust or pitting to be found, especially considering the black powder ammo of the era.. The stampings are all clear and sharp, telling me this rifle saw little use and received good care. Usually the first feature to wear away, the rampant Colt is still visible on the left side of the receiver. This classy Colt has the serial number on both tangs and the butt plate. The bore of the long barrel is good, with plenty of shine and strong rifling. Chambered in 32-20, these rifles were made to share ammunition with Colt revolvers of the day. The full length pre-ban magazine holds no less than 17 rounds. The rear sight is fairly standard, but the front sight is an unexpected gem. It is a miniature version of a Lyman number 4 "hunting sight", with checkering to prevent glare, and ivory to provide contrast. If I remember correctly, Lyman bought the rights to this sight sometime after this rifle was produced. All in all, this is one rare and valuable gun. While the standard versions have been steadily climbing in value, the special order guns have skyrocketed. If you have been looking for the right Colt medium frame rifle to collect, or for investment, but want the added clout of a special order deluxe gun, then look no further.
