Description:
Colt Model 1911 with original finish, 1917 manufacture. MGS inspector mark of left behind trigger. Mark is that of Major Gilbert H. Stewart.
Comes with original Russell magazine pouch and three 7 round magazines. One is original two color mag marked with Colt .45 Auto on base. One other mag marked with Colt 45 Auto on base. One mag is unmarked.
It is marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” on the left side of the frame and marked AA for Augusta Arsenal repair or refurb. The right side of the slide is marked “MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY”. The left side of the slide is marked “PATENTED APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9, 1902/DEC.19, 1905. FEB.14, 1911. AUG.19, 1913” with a rampant colt in the side rear of the slide left center of slide says “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”
The overall condition is very good. Original finish with some sctatches on the right side of slide and a light steak on the left front center of the slide. Barrel is an apparent arsenal replacement. The action is excellent. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. The grips are solid with medium wear.
